Common questions
Another question? Call us at (905) 898-0777.
Is a minor ailment assessment free?
Yes. The assessment is free when you have a valid Ontario health card. You pay for the medicine the same way you pay for any prescription, through your insurance or yourself.
What if the pharmacist cannot treat me?
If your symptoms are severe or need a doctor, the pharmacist refers you. At Taurus, our walk-in clinic is in the same building, so you can often see a doctor the same day.
Can pharmacists prescribe antibiotics?
For some minor ailments, yes. For example, pharmacists can prescribe for uncomplicated urinary tract infections and some skin and eye infections, when it is safe to do so.
Which conditions were added in 2026?
On July 1, 2026 Ontario added nine: calluses and corns, tension headache, head lice, dandruff, ringworm, jock itch, warts, nasal congestion and dry eye.
The list of conditions is set by the Ontario Ministry of Health and the Ontario College of Pharmacists. It was last checked in September 2026.
